# How to Build a Medical Practice Website: Structure, Copy and What Patients Look For
A practice website has a single job, turning uncertainty into an appointment. Anyone who takes that seriously builds it differently from a business card with opening hours.

| Page | Job | Required | Most common mistake |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Home | Orient the visitor and lead toward an appointment | Yes | Welcome text that says nothing |
| Services | A separate address for every treatment | Yes | Everything on one page |
| Treatment process | Ease anxiety, step by step | Yes | Left out |
| Team | Show the people, name their qualifications | Yes | Stock photos |
| FAQ | Answer the questions asked on the phone | No, but strong | Made-up questions |
| Contact and directions | Booking, phone, the way to the door | Yes | Map without consent |
| Blog | Search traffic for symptoms | No, pays off long term | Medical jargon |
| Legal notice, privacy | Required legal information | Yes | Generator text taken over unchecked |

Anyone who opens a practice website usually already has a problem. Quite often for weeks. They are not looking for self-promotion but for three answers. Do you treat this, how does it work, and when can I come in.

Everything that delays these three answers costs appointments.

## The home page decides in ten seconds

“Welcome to the website of our practice” is the most expensive sentence in this industry, because it says nothing and takes up the space where something useful could stand.

Three pieces of information belong at the top.

- **What you treat**, using the words patients use. “Back pain” rather than “musculoskeletal complaints”.

- **Who it is for**, if there is a focus. Children, adults, couples, statutory or private insurance.

- **How to get an appointment**, visible without scrolling. Phone number as text, online booking as a button.

## One address per treatment

The most common structural mistake is a services page with eight paragraphs. It is convenient and ranks for nothing.

Google rates addresses, not paragraphs. Anyone who wants to be found for “root canal treatment Cologne” needs a page about root canal treatment. The same goes for language models. They quote sections that answer a question on their own.

Three to six treatment pages are enough. Each one answers what it is, when you need it, how it works, whether it hurts, what it costs and whether insurance pays.

## The treatment process is the most important page

And it is almost always missing. Yet uncertainty about the process is the main reason an appointment never gets made.

It is quick to write. What happens at the first appointment, how long it takes, what to bring, what happens afterwards, when you see a result. Five paragraphs that take the tension out of a person.

For sensitive topics, from dental treatment to psychotherapy to physiotherapy, this page is regularly the most read on the entire website.

## Show people, for real

A stock photo of a smiling doctor whom nobody in this practice has ever seen quickly looks like a prop in this industry. And it is recognizable, because the same photos appear on hundreds of practice sites.

An afternoon with a photographer costs €300 to €600 and lasts for years. If that is not possible, a decent phone photo in front of a calm wall beats a bought smile.

Qualifications include the details that professional rules in Germany require anyway, such as professional title, chamber and training history. They are also exactly what builds trust.

## FAQ, take the real questions

An FAQ block works in two directions. It answers the questions that would otherwise be asked on the phone, and it comes in exactly the form a language model quotes, with question and answer kept separate.

The condition is that the questions are real. Take the five your front desk actually hears every week. Made-up questions stuffed with keywords are something everyone recognizes by now.

## Data protection matters here

A practice processes health data. That rubs off on the website, even if no diagnoses appear there.

In practice this means contact forms should ask for as little as possible and never force a description of symptoms. Maps and tracking load only after genuine consent under the GDPR. And if you offer online booking, you should know where that provider processes the data.

What applies in detail should be settled with your chamber or your legal counsel.

## Getting found, by assistants too

More and more patients ask an assistant first, “Who treats jaw joint problems in Bonn?” What comes back is two or three names.

Getting in follows the same work as above. Name treatments plainly, mention location and catchment area in running text, give phone number and email address as text, describe process and costs. To a language model a form is no way of getting in touch, because it cannot fill anything in. ## The fastest route to a first version

The work lies in copy and photos, the technology takes the rest. A finished industry template takes care of the structure described above.

[Bendrath](https://ai-website.com/templates/bendrath) from our marketplace is built exactly for this, with nineteen pages including detailed service pages, a therapist profile, a dedicated FAQ page, a click-to-load map with consent and a blog that answers real search questions.

Like all [medical practice website templates](https://ai-website.com/templates/health), it is an AI Website Template, with website, knowledge and seven skills in one package. Your AI reads the guideline and then replaces specialty, services, location and opening hours in the chat. €99 once, yours forever.

## Frequently asked questions
Does a practice even need its own website? Yes. Directories and map listings show reviews and opening hours, but not how you work. The part of the decision that goes beyond the time of day happens on your own site or not at all.

What matters more, online booking or the phone? Both, side by side. Younger patients prefer to book online, older ones call, and anyone with acute symptoms wants to see both immediately. The phone number belongs on the page as text, not just as an image in the header.

Can I embed a Google map? Under the GDPR only with consent, because data goes to a third party. The usual solution is a click-to-load map that only loads once tapped. Far from a stopgap, it is often even faster.

What has to be on a practice website legally? In Germany, a legal notice (Impressum) under Section 5 of the Digital Services Act (DDG) with your professional title, the responsible medical chamber and the professional code, plus a privacy policy. Healthcare professions also face professional restrictions on advertising. What applies to you should be settled with your chamber or your legal counsel. This text is not legal advice.

Is a blog worth it for a practice? If you explain symptoms, very much so. People search for symptoms, not technical terms. A post that fully answers a typical question from the waiting room brings in appointments for years.

How long does it take to build? From scratch about four to eight weeks, most of it spent on copy and photos. With a finished industry template the copy work remains, and a first complete version is ready in one afternoon.
