Our year at the roastery

Chapter one

Eleven farms, four of them new

We bought 38 metric tons of green coffee from eleven farms in four countries and paid an average of 2.1 times the exchange price.

Chapter two

A roaster that runs on green power

The new drum roasts twelve kilos a batch and runs on electricity from the cooperative down the road.

Chapter three

The café turned three

96,400 cups, a new breakfast menu and a long table that is booked every Friday by the same studio.

Chapter four

Fourteen of us now

Two baristas, one roaster and an apprentice joined. Everyone gets a share of the profit in December.

Chapter five

What comes next

A second café by the river, a subscription for offices and a roasting course every first Saturday.
